The APT Diploma in Psychological Therapies is obtained by studying what we consider to be the top five approaches to therapy, namely (in alphabetical order):
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy,
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy,
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy,
- Motivational Interviewing,
- Solution-Focused Therapy.
You achieve this by studying each of the following courses sequentially:
- ACT Essentials,
- CBT Essentials,
- DBT Essentials,
- Motivational Interviewing, and how to use it effectively,
- SFT Essentials.
To be awarded the diploma, you must also pass the relevant online exam after each course; this is included as part of the course.
You can purchase the Diploma in one payment, in which case you have immediate access to all five courses and study them at your own pace and in whichever order you wish. Or you can purchase each course independently and then notify us when you have studied all five and passed all five exams. We will then verify that, and award you the diploma.
If you have already attended one or more of these courses in the last 2 years, then you have an exemption for that subject(s), you don't need to attend the same course again. If you have already attended the equivalent of one or more of these courses from another training-provider in the last 2 years, then again you have an exemption for that subject(s), although you do need to submit evidence of the training and pay a reading fee for APT assessing it.
Please note that the diploma should be completed in not more than 2 years from the date you undertake the first course.
What you receive as a result of undertaking the training:
You will be registered as having attended the course, thereby gaining The APT Diploma in Psychological Therapies, and receive a certificate to this effect and Level 4 accreditation which gains you access to the resources associated with the course.
Your registration lasts indefinitely, and your accreditation to use the resources lasts for 3 years and is renewable by submitting evidence of continued practice, and your reflections on that practice (to the required level).
Your accreditation is given value by the fact of over 100,000 mental health professionals having attended APT training. See APT accreditation for full details.
